Will backlog affect my SSB interview.

I know many of the students have this question in their mind that. whether their present or past backlog will affect their SSB interview or not!

To be honest, in most of the Entries it is mentioned that you should not have a current backlog when joining the academy.

So, in that case, “yes” is an answer. That yes you can appear with a backlog for SSB interview.
But as soon as you will enter the SSB center, your documents would be verified and then there itself the assessors will get to know whether you are having a current backlog or not!

Not to worry they will instruct you! accordingly!
Lets see different backlog requirements for different entries!
NDA Entry: NDA students are not supposed to have a current backlog. Only students studying in class 12 or equivalent standard of a state board are allowed to appear in the SSB.

Point to be noted: your past failure in other standards or class won’t matter as long as you are fulfilling the age group for NDA, you can appear for SSB.

TES Entry: Candidates must have around 80-85% marks in PCM in their boards, so candidates who have cleared the 12th can apply for this entry. This is a direct entry.

CDS entry backlogs: Final year students who are yet to pass the degree can also apply provided they don’t have a present backlog for which results have been declared.
or provided they can produce the proof of passing degree at the time of commencement of course.

AFCAT Entry: Final year students who are yet to pass the degree can also apply provided they don’t have a present backlog for which results have been declared.
or provided they can produce the proof of passing degree at the time of commencement of course.

Securing 60% marks in an overall degree is a basic requirement for AFCAT!

INET Entry: Final year students who are yet to pass the degree can also apply provided they don’t have a present backlog for which results have been declared.
or provided they can produce the proof of passing degree at the time of commencement of course.

Securing 60% marks in an overall degree is a basic requirement for INET!

INET and AFCAT entries are almost the same, but the basic main different requirement is that, you are only eligible for INET if you are a B-TECH student.

SSC Tech Entry Indian Army: there is no official information mentioned about the backlogs, so if you are eligible, you can apply and attend the SSB interview with an active backlog. But you may have the clear the backlog before joining the academy.

NCC Special Entry: there is no official information mentioned about the backlogs, so if you are eligible of all the NCC requirements, you can apply and attend the SSB interview with an active backlog. But you may have the clear the backlog before joining the academy.

JAG Entry: The Judge Advocate General Entry specifies nothing related to the backlogs, one must have all the documents while attending the SSB interview.

  • Entries like CDS, AFCAT, INET, NDA have no backlog policy during the SSB interview.
  • If you manage to clear your backlog before the SSB interview and can provide the certificate, you can attend the SSB interview without an issue.
  • For such entries, you will be sent back on the very first day if you have a backlog.
  • In case of doubt, call your respective SSB centers allotted to you.
  • Entries that need complete graduation, backlogs won’t be allowed as with backlogs your graduation is not considered as complete.
  • As you are a defense aspirant, it is suggested to clear all your backlogs before appearing for the SSB, having active backlogs might hamper your chances in the SSB.
You must get bonafide from the college principal or registrar of the university that your result will be declared on a specific date and be sure that such a specific date should be prior to the date of joining the academy.

Only if you can manage to get bonafide you will be allowed to appear in SSB.
Summary: you can appear, but in that case, you may have to provide the proof of passing your degree before the commencement of course and be prepared to get grilled because of the backlog in the interview!
